The Joint Venture Agreement between Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) and Sri Alam Setia Sdn Bhd (SAS) was signed on 2nd August 2023 at Menara Kinabalu, witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

On 16th January 2024, a Dialogue Session with the people of Kampung Kawayoi was officiated by YB Datuk Masiung Banah, with SEDCO General Manager Mr. Haizar Razif Hisyam and Borneo Cement (Sabah) Sdn Bhd Managing Director Mr. Michael Kinsuan in attendance.

The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the cement factory was held on 27th April 2024 in Kampung Pinangah, Tongod, officiated by Chief Minister YAB Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, with MIDE Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, YB Datuk Masiung Banah, and Borneo Cement (Sabah) Sdn Bhd Managing Director Mr. Michael Kinsuan.
